We had our Purim party last night, and it was great! Wonderful food - kreplach and roast beef, chicken and a spring vegetable stew - and of course, hamantaschen of all descriptions.
We held a spontaneous 'improv' spiel - my husband got to be the king and sit in the recliner with a paper crown and a glass of wine - he had only one major 'line': 'its good to be the king!' Queen Esther was nine, and her biggest moment was standing up and telling the king 'Don't kill the Jews!'
Unscripted plays sometimes work well and sometimes bomb, but this one went just fine.
